Legal Assistant - DA's Office
The Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney’s Office (Canton, TX) is accepting resumes for a legal assistant. The position will entail preparing legal paperwork, attending court sessions, organizing dockets, maintaining files, answering phones, assisting the public, and other duties as assigned. Applicants must be proficient in typing, multi-tasking, and possess appropriate computer skills/literacy. Individuals that are highly organized, positive, and motivated are encouraged to apply. Salary is $22K-$26K, depending on experience, with benefits package including health insurance and retirement.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY AUDITOR
• Assist the County Judge in preparing the county budget
•Certify to the Commissioners’ Court receipt of all grand or aid money available for disbursement
•Certify to the Commissioners’ Court receipt of revenue from intergovernmental contracts available for disbursement
•Ensure departmental spending is in compliance with the adopted budget and a department’s expenses do not exceed their appropriations
•Keep a detailed set of records showing all county transactions relating to accounts, contracts, indebtedness, receipts and disbursements
•Responsible for the strict enforcement of the law regarding county finances
•Audit officials’ books, accounts, reports, vouchers and other records
•Periodically inform the Commissioners’ Court of the status of the budget
•At least quarterly, do a surprise audit of the funds held by the county treasurer or in a bank in which the treasurer has put the funds
•At least annually, do a surprise audit of all officials
•Audit the receipt book of each official collecting fines and fees in criminal cases each month
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA or CIA preferred.
• Minimum 2 years auditing and accounting experience
• Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
• Systems knowledge and familiarity
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
